What is Political Science

Political Science is the scientific study of government, its forms, operation, and justifications.  Political scientists can be found studying everything from the institutions of government to the causes of war to the place of law in society.  Traditional subfields include: political philosophy, methodology, American government, comparative politics, international studies, and public policy.  As a social science, political science shares much in common with economics, psychology, sociology, and anthropology.

Who Studies Political Science

Recent graduates from our department have gone on to law school, graduate study, teaching, consulting, work as congressional staffers, Indiana state government, and the business world.  If you are interested in politics, current events, or the problems facing our world, you should consider political science.
